pages 1-20 the emotionless man

The character Monsieur Meurasault reminds me of the character Holden Caulfeild in the book Catcher in the Rye. The similarities between these two people is that they both play in an act of denial. I believe that Meurasault is not realizing what his life is really about and cant seem to care less how he lacks such emotion. Holden Caulfeild releases the same trait aswell in his narrative book where he shows how meaningless life can be. These two guys have a negative input on life in thinking everything is going to be the same no matter what happends. "...Sunday was over, that Maman was buried now, that I was going back to work, and that really nothing had changed."(24). Despite the fact that his mother died and Meursault has to live alone he seems to not be affected by anything at all. I wonder if it is just a shell he is hiding under because he doesn't want to face some sort of reality?

Anna, I really like your connection with The Catcher in the Rye and i'm 100% behind you when you say that Meursalt is a negative man that basically has no respect for life what so ever. I'm going to think about your question because it gave me some ideas.

I think the title you gave your blog is great. I also agree with your opinion on Meursalt being a negative man.

I agree with your connection to Caufield. However, I think you can develop these sort of entries even fuirther. Maybe continue your comparison with Holden.
